A few months ago, I hopped a plane to Japan to begin a new chapter. I assumed that the transition would be an easy one but here I am still feeling lost and unacclimated. I keep thinking that I’m going to get the hang of this eventually, but it has been difficult so far.

Americana

Every year, my
sister-in-law and her husband hold a large celebration at their home in
Maryland. It’s always fun wondering what the theme will be, who we’ll get to
see, and enjoying the daiquiris made with fresh strawberries! They even mix up
virgin ones for the kids. My sister-in-law always plans special things for the
kids including leis, toys to take home (blowup monkeys this year), and
activities like inflatable water slides and musical instruments.

Altered Loom

one place in your home? This picture of my daughter, taken by my husband, spoke
to my inner soul; but every flat surface cannot have a frame. Thus, I created
this altered loom as another way to display treasured pictures.

Crop Out Autism

Scrapbooking is such an amazing hobby and so much more than “just a hobby.” I
have been scrapbooking for nine years and have gone from “doing it just this
once” to create a memory book for a little boy, all the way to using it to raise
money for a local Autism support group and as another source of income.

Fun in Sun & Water

This was the
most amazing day, and I knew as I was taking the pictures what an awesome page
they were going to make. This page brings back some really great memories for
me. My son, who was just over one at the time, could not yet walk on his own.
My husband and I thought it would be neat to see how he felt with his feet in
the sand for the first time. To our pleasant surprise he absolutely loved it and
I think his beautiful smile says it all.

Captivating

Saved by Scrapbooking

My daughter Rachel was diagnosed with Autism about 15 years ago. This was long before it was so widely discussed and there were no special classes in school for her to attend. They had some types of classes for disabled children, but not for autism in particular. It was a very difficult time. My husband traveled much of the time and my older daughter (whom we now know has Aspergers), was at home, so I was alone to deal with this incredibly difficult child.

Vacations

traveled by car from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon by way of the Hoover Dam.

Life’s A Beach

Living just minutes away from our favorite beach, I am never short on beach
photos to scrapbook. What is a challenge is making the layouts stand apart from
each other. When I saw the sketch that this layout is based on over at Let’s
Scrap, I knew it would be perfect for capturing a lot of those beach photos that
start to look all alike! I love that I was able to get 11 photos scrapped onto
one layout!

Pocket Full of Cards

Jami's got something in her pockets fanciful note cards! These note cards feature a pretty embossed flower that's easy to create with a little light, some brass and a stylus. Once the cards are made, they need to be organized, so Jami creates a pretty matching pocket folder. If square isn't your style, you can go vertical too with this pocket full of cards.

Tokens of My Confection

Jami creates a whimsical token of her affection for her mother's birthday perfect for holding treats and confections. She textures some paper, paints a ball, and twirls some ribbon to create a fanciful hat. Adding a photo personalizes the creation which is ready to top a cookie tin decorated with ribbons and paints. This gift is sure to put a smile on anyone's face!

A Piece of American Pie

Haley came to Florida for her spring break. She loves the beach and loves being
silly and having her picture taken. If she could, she would spend 24/7 playing
in the ocean. I made her a scrapbook so that she would always remember her

4th of July

We visited my parents for the 4th of July last year, and at the last minute, I tucked this little flag into
my suitcase before our trip. On the 4th, I dressed my daughter in her polka dots and let her examine the flag.
The result was some great photos and amazing colors – I love the red, white and blue! It's so fun to be on the
outside looking in as my little toddler learns and explores. I just knew I’d be able to find the perfect matching
polka dot paper, and this layout happens to utilize only 4”x 6” photos to capture the experience.

Water Babies

We bought our backyard pool at the end of the summer of 2008, so last summer my older daughter Elizabeth really got to enjoy it. For this
layout, I wanted to use fun, bright papers to pull out some of the great colors in the photos. I also wanted to give the feeling of
water with my embellishments so I cut the patterned paper with a wavy edge, painted the title with Glitter Glaze and used epoxy
stickers and Glossy Accents to create the look of water droplets.

Sweet Summertime

The cool breeze, the smell of the salty air, the warm sand between my toes –
these are the things I dream of when I want to relax. The colors on this
layout, along with the patterns and textures, mimic just such a day. The
corrugated paper resembles the coarseness of the sand, the blue glitter on the
letters remind me of the sparkling spray of the sea, and the use of pinking
shears symbolizes the fencing used which aides in beach preservation. All of
these elements put me in the mood to take a leisurely ride to the seashore for a
little "R&R”!

Adding Dimension and Texture to Layouts

One good way to keep layouts from looking flat or boring is to find creative
ways to add texture and dimension to your pages. We can add dimension in many
ways. The trick is to do it without adding a lot of unnecessary bulk, which can
harm pages or result in lumpy scrapbook albums.

Fun Wherever We Are

Living in New Zealand, it’s hard to find scrapbooking supplies, so I belong to a
couple of kit clubs. These awesome papers were delivered in February and I just
had to scrap straight away. I felt they would be great for holiday or sunny
garden pictures.
