Pillow Pals

My daughter does a lot of crafts and being a crafty mom, I usually enjoy them all. This one, however, really tried my patience because the t-shirt material kept getting stuck in the sewing machine foot. We persevered and got through it though and I have to say, the end result was adorable! The journaling reads:

When the Jo-Ann’s Kids Camp class listings came out, you chose to go to the t-shirt creature class. You made an adorable yellow pillow during the three-hour class. When you got home, you wanted to use your scraps to make another. I have to say it was one of the more frustrating crafts we’ve done. Working with stretchy, jersey material was not an easy task and the fabric kept getting stuck in the sewing machine. The end result is adorable though!

In God We Trust

Over the summer, I was able to re-connect with my dad. I learned what he has been doing with his time since he recently retired from the United States Postal Service. He is the type of man who has a lot of energy and likes to be out doing things for people. He has hobbies that one would normally consider hobbies, such as home improvements, bicycling, etc. But one of his biggest joys in his retired years has been serving in the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts. He dedicates his service and honor to these programs and loves every second of it. This is his hobby, it is his love, and I wanted to create a page that captured that for him.

I am Jeannie DeGruccio, native California girl. I am a mom; I have 7 kids, ranging from 20 years to 4 years old. My hubby and I have survived, so far, through 22 years of marriage. I have been scrapbooking/stamping/paper crafting for at least half of my life. I started crafting as a young mom to decorate my home on a very tight budget. From there I got into scrapbooking and card making and moved onto various forms of art and crafting as the trends changed.

I am a down-to-earth person. The things I make are for real people, not meant to be on a display shelf in a museum or too thick to put in a scrapbook. I make things and show things to people to inspire them, not to scare them or show off. If I had to describe my style I would say I am a whimsical scrapper/crafter. My things tend to be bright and cheery and I love to think outside the box.

I am currently on Design Teams for different companies and manufacturers. If you would like to see more of my work, visit me on my blog, The Polka Cabana, http://polkacabana.wordpress.com.

Discover a World of Possibilities

My son is a great student in school, but finding books that he actually enjoys reading is a struggle. So I was thrilled when we stumbled upon The 39 Clues Series. We read the series together so we could talk about the story (and so I could make sure he was reading!). This layout was a lot of fun because I was experimenting with spray mists and templates. It was also a great way to use up smaller, leftover scraps of patterned paper!

My name is Carolyn Lontin. I am married to Rick; we have one son, Seth, and two crazy dogs! We live in gorgeous Colorado, in a suburb just south of Denver. Since 1994, I have been a Human Resource Director for a manufacturing company. I began scrapping in October 2001, to preserve my son's childhood memories and it quickly became an obsession! I love capturing my family's "real" moments in both my photos and my journaling. I have found the creative outlet of scrapping to be incredibly relaxing and quite addictive, which is shocking to the previously dominate non-artistic side of me! Over the past few years, I have had the honor of having my work published in several major publications. Drop by my blog for a visit: http://carolynlontin.blogspot.com.
